ERAU DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM AT OCOEE HS

Beginning in the fall of 2017 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is offering a Dual Enrollment course in a limited number of Florida schools through the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program. Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) students can earn FREE college credit by attending college-level classes on their high school campus. This is a huge savings of approximately $14,300 per student in tuition!

  • Ocoee High School and Timber Creek High School are currently the only OCPS schools offering ERAU Dual Enrollment courses on campus through Air Force JROTC. There are currently 92 schools in Florida participating in this program.

  • Ocoee High School is offering AS 120 Principles of Aerospace Science in the fall and AS 220 Unmanned Aircraft System Operations in the spring. These are college-level courses and students must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 to enroll. This program is primarily intended for students in 10th - 12th grade, but 9th graders may sign up with instructor permission.

  • This course is part of the JROTC program. The student must wear an Air Force uniform each Tuesday and participate in team sports on Friday. There is no other required JROTC involvement.

  • Each semester students will take a field trip to the Embry-Riddle campus in Daytona, Florida. They will receive a flight in a Cessna 172 aircraft, use high-tech advanced training simulators, and learn about careers in aviation from some of the best personnel in the industry.
